I just got back from the wettest run I've ever had in my entire life, and I've gotta tell you...I freakin' loved it!!! I don't think I could have ran another 3 hours in soaking we shoes, but 1 hour was okay. If you don't like getting wet and you think to yourself...I can beat the rain and get a good run in before it hits...don't listen...just wait until the storm passes. On the other hand if you're not sure if you hate running in the rain, then give it a shot...just don't blame me if it sucks! So today was a good run - 7.5 miles in 60 minutes, but Saturday was even beter...18 miles (29 km) in 3 hours which included my warmup and cooldown. I ran from my house in Belleville up River Rd. through Corbyville into Foxboro on Harmony Rd. and back down Hwy 62 into Belleville, and still had an hour to go, so I just ran around Belleville some more. So far most people's response to this is that I'm insane...maybe I am! I've got to admit, I felt pretty shitty right after, but was fine by Saturday night. I don't think I was taking enough gels, so I'll have to adjust that next time.
It feels great to have had 3 out of 3 phenomenal runs in the past 4 days for a total of 29.5 miles (47.5 km).
Here's something I haven't done in a while...some choice cuts from the past few runs...
Lenny Kravitz - Stop Draggin Around
Beastie Boys - Off the Grid
Joel Plaskett Emergency - Drunk Teenagers
Queens of the Stone Age - 3's and 7's
LCD Soundsystem - All My Friends
Lupe Fiasco - I Gotcha
Theivery Corporation - Warning Shots
Also, I've got to mention something here although he knows it...Brock is the freakin' man!!! For those of you that don't know, Brock had to drop out of Team Diabetes, but he decided to transfer all of the funds he had raised to date to my campaign...unbelievable generosity. Thanks man, it definately won't be the same in Honolulu without you!!!
I've got another lactate test tomorrow...I'll share the results with you later in the week.
Will
